El Afrique was founded by Whitney Nasanga in 2016 while she was a university student and an apprentice in her mother’s fashion business. Whitney noticed a gap in the market for African print style of designs. She started by producing and styling her own clothes which attracted her first client who ordered 5 identical designs of what she was wearing then.

The brand initially focused on  targeting the younger generation who loved the fusion of cultural heritage and a modern flair but has now grown and  developed to designing for the Corporate woman in her 40’s, the millennial traveler, the Kenyan diaspora market and tourists visiting Kenya.

Elafrique has dressed notable personalities including: Kambua Muziki, janet Mbugua, Grace Malame, Diana Marua, Phoina and Maxine Wabosha
